Walter Mosley is the 2021 recipient of the Killer Nashville John Seigenthaler Legends Award. He is one of America’s most celebrated and beloved writers. A Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America, he has won numerous awards, including an Edgar Award for best novel, the Anisfield-Wolf Award, a Grammy, a PEN USA’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and several NAACP Image awards.

His books have been translated into more than twenty languages. His short fiction has appeared in a wide array of publications, including the New YorkerGQEsquireLos Angeles Times Magazine, and Playboy, and his nonfiction has been published in the New York Times Book Review, the New York Times MagazineNewsweek, and the Nation. John Seigenthaler was a well-known editor, publisher, writer, TV personality, First Amendment champion, advocate for writers, and longtime supporter of Killer Nashville. Like its namesake, the annual Killer Nashville John Seigenthaler Legends Award™ is bestowed upon an individual within the publishing industry who has championed First Amendment Rights to ensure that all opinions are given a voice, has exemplified mentorship and example to authors, supporting the new voices of tomorrow, and/or has written an influential canon of work that will continue to influence authors for many years to come.

The award will be presented at the Killer Nashville Awards Dinner.

Update 8/10/21 – In consultation with his doctor, Walter Mosley has cancelled all travel plans and will be participating at the Killer Nashville conference virtually and will be at ALL of his scheduled events virtually as planned. He is sending signed book plates for books.
